Melissa Burns

Melissa Is an experienced clinician, who has trained and worked in the education, disability, private and EAP sectors, with qualifications in general, education and developmental psychology.

She has a strong background working with adults and couples to manage relationship issues, mental health disorders and general concerns affecting emotional and mental health and wellbeing. Included within Melissa's skill set is working with sleep disruption, interpersonal conflict and workplace stress. She specialises in assisting families to manage the challenges of parenting, and an interest in working with adolescents.

Melissa’s approach to therapy encompasses the resilience framework. Her treatment approaches utilise the evidence-based cognitive behavioural model and includes Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy.

Melissa is also a facilitator in the Matrix Program® an intensive non-residential treatment for addiction.

Melissa engages her clients with a warm, flexible and calm manner, with a healthy dose of humour and compassion. She understands that the therapist/client relationship is instrumental in developing collaborative treatment programs, implementing evidence-based interventions and achieving successful outcomes.
